Sciatic nerve pain · Grand Rapids, MI

Sciatica that runs your day? Find the segment behind it.

Knapp Family Chiropractic in Grand Rapids sees sciatic nerve pain more than almost anything else. That burning, shooting pain down the back of your leg often starts at one spot in the lower spine, and finding that exact spot is what the Gonstead System is built for.

Sound like you?

  • Pain that shoots from your low back or hip down one leg
  • Numbness, tingling, or weakness in the leg or foot
  • Worse after sitting, driving, or first thing in the morning
  • You have tried stretching and it keeps coming back

How Dr. Knapp looks at it

Sciatic symptoms usually come from irritation of a nerve root in the low back or pelvis. Dr. Knapp uses full-spine X-ray, instrumentation, and a hands-on exam to find which segment is actually involved, then adjusts that segment specifically. For many patients, once the right segment is corrected, the leg symptoms may ease as the nerve irritation settles.

What to expect

Your first visit is a complete exam, not a quick crack. If the findings show a problem chiropractic can help, you get a plan with a clear goal and an end point. If they show something that needs a different kind of doctor, Dr. Knapp tells you plainly and points you the right way.
