Back pain · Grand Rapids, MI

Back pain is common. You still deserve a real answer for yours.

Knapp Family Chiropractic in Grand Rapids treats low back and mid back pain with the Gonstead System, which exists for exactly this: finding the one or two segments actually causing trouble in a spine that mostly works fine.

Sound like you?

  • A low back that seizes with lifting, yard work, or long sits
  • Morning stiffness that takes an hour to loosen
  • Pain that flares a few times a year and gets worse each round
  • You want to fix it, not manage it forever

How Dr. Knapp looks at it

Most backs do not need everything adjusted. They need the right thing adjusted. Full-spine X-ray, instrumentation, and palpation point Dr. Knapp to the specific level involved, and the adjustment goes there, in the direction your joint actually needs. For many patients who tried other care first, that precision is what was missing.

What to expect

A complete first-visit exam, findings explained in plain words, then a plan that tapers as you improve. If the exam turns up a red flag, and backs are where they tend to hide, Dr. Knapp refers you out promptly.

How the Gonstead System works →

I came in because I had severe back pain. I had had back pain for most of my life on and off. I was very sore after the first few adjustments but I noticed that I could stand straight again and walk without pain. After about a month I was seeing how I could get up and walk better in the mornings, which I used to be very stiff for the first 1 to 2 hours of the day. I am feeling a huge difference in how my back feels. I feel like I called the right chiropractor.
